Jamsrangiin Gendendaram was born in 1929 and graduated from the Linguistic School, India and the State University of Moscow. He has worked as an English teacher, writer, translator and diplomat. He has published six books of poetry, short stories and novellas such as Echo of a Queen Rock, The Singing of Old Age, Temper of the Sunny and Moony World, Flowers Among Grasses, Winds from Cool Mountain and Jewelry Horse. As a translator he has won the title of ¡°Outstanding Translator¡± and has translated some thirty books from Hindi and English into Mongolian. His translations include Panchatantra (Tavan surgamj), Hardship of the Poor (Yaduugiin Zovlon), Shakundala, Kaamasutra (Enger Zomulehiin Uchir), Dhammapada (Nomynmor), and The History of the Mongolian Conquest.
