Born in 1960, Wang Tong graduated from the Beijing Film Academy, majoring in literature and studied Advanced Editing at Lu Xun Literature Institute. Currently, Wang is the vice president and deputy editor of the monthly magazine Beijing Literature. A member of the Chinese Writers Association and the Beijing Writers Association, he has published many short stories including ¡°Time to Know the Way of the World,¡± ¡°Transparent Glasses of America,¡± and ¡°Clouds and the Sea under the Reins.¡± ¡°Transparent Glasses of America¡± ranked the seventh among the Best Chinese Novellas in 2001, and ¡°Clouds and the Sea under the Reins¡± was a recommended read as the best story in 2004. He also won the second Bing Xin Prose Award for his work, ¡°Woman in the Rain.¡± He published many collections of stories and essays, and his photograph entitled ¡°The Alienated¡± won an award at the China-Japan Friendship Photo Exhibit.
