Born in Busan in 1974, he  worked as a reporter for the Korea Times after he graduated from Dong-A University with a bachelor's degree in English language and literature in 2000, and is currently a reporter of the Yonhap News Agency. He won the 34th Modern Korean Literature Translation Prize in 2003 and the 4th Korean Literature Translation Contest for New Translators in 2005.
